Introduction of the Group
We are interested in the following seemingly different topics:
The role played by cosmic rays and magnetic field in ISM dynamics and evolution:
- the effect of cosmic rays on Parker instability (MHD-CR simulation)
- Parker-Jeans instability and magneto-rotational instability with cosmic rays (linear analysis)
- stability of four-fluid cosmic ray plasma system: thermal plasma, cosmic rays, two oppositely propagating Alfven waves (linear analysis)
- stellar winds with/without magnetic field (theory)
- cosmic ray propagation (theory)
- evolution of ISM with magnetic field and/or cosmic rays (toy models)
Star clusters and our galaxy:
- encounter of an open cluster with a molecular cloud (NBody simulation)
- survivability of embedded star cluster in a dispersing molecular cloud (NBody simulation)
- mass segregation and relaxation of open clusters (NBody simulation)
- triggered star formation in molecular clouds (toy model)
- structure of open clusters from 2MASS (data analysis)
- galactic structure and its luminosity function from 2MASS (data analysis)
- internal dynamics of open clusters from proper motion (data analysis)
Other galaxies:
- strong gravitational lensing by relativistic modified newtonian dynamics (MOND) (theory)
- dynamical mass and lensing mass of galaxies (theory and data analysis)
- multi-wavelength properties of elliptical galaxies (data analysis)
Others:
- virtual observatory (VO): setting up a preliminary VO at NCU (software development)
- rotation of minor planets (numerical)
- stability of binary system (theory and numerical)
- multi-fluid plasma (theory)
Other others:
- distribution of prime numbers (statistics)
- darwinian evolution in harsh environment (numerical)
