The path to the palace of academy is always tough. Is there any other way to keep contributing yourself to the academy? Perhaps being a developer of academic software is a good idea. In this talk, I will share my experience of being a software developer of CARTA, the Cube Analysis and Rendering Tool for Astronomy, including the required skills and my personal experience of getting the job. I will also briefly introduce the concept of the key features and background techniques of CARTA.
