"Rings, Moon, and Asteroids: A mini tour of the solar system through dust science"

時間/地點: 2022-11-25 14:00 [S4-1013]

摘要:

Results from recent space exploration missions revolutionized our view of the solar system. From the geologically active icy bodies, such as Enceladus and Pluto, to Boulder-rich yet fragile surfaces of Near Earth Asteroids (NEAs), these findings not only provided new insights about the solar system formation history. But they also impose significant impacts on future exploration activities in planetary sciences as well as astrobiology. In this presentation, I will focus on the ring-moon system around giant planets, including their evolution history, the connections to the Ocean Worlds, and future exploration priorities suggested by the latest US planetary decadal survey Origin, Worlds, and Life. I will also discuss our recent asteroid regolith evolution model and its implications regarding the evolution and distribution of NEAs.
