摘要:
Magnetic fields are a key component in star formation theories. Nevertheless, their exact role in the formation of stars is still a topic of debate due to the difficulty in measuring magnetic fields. JCMT POL-2 is a unique tool to probe the interstellar magnetic fields over parsec to sub-parsec scale, and allow us to investigate how magnetic fields interact with the interstellar filaments, which is believed as the potential site of star formation. In this talk, I will introduce the recent finding based on the JCMT POL-2 observations, mostly done by the “B-fields In STar-forming Region Observations” (BISTRO) survey. I will highlight our recent work on the star-forming cloud NGC2264, as part of the BISTRO survey, and discuss how the high resolution and high sensitivity polarization data help us to reveal the detailed role of magnetic fields in interstellar clouds.
