"Dark Matter, Galaxies, and Supermassive Black Holes"

時間/地點: 2022-09-16 14:00 [S4-1013]

摘要:

Dark matter is believed to drive the formation of galaxies. Big galaxies are expected to host a supermassive black hole. Observationally, it was also found that SMBHs are related to the velocity dispersion of galactic bulges. In other words, there should be a DM-galaxy-SMBH relation.  Since a SMBH will manifest itself as an AGN, we expect that AGN properties should be related to the dark matter and galaxy properties of its host galaxy. However, in the popular AGN unification model, such connection is missing. In this talk, I will like to discuss a few problems related to this missing connection. Such as: In what kinds of galaxies, a SMBH will become an AGN?
How are the properties of AGNs/SMBHs related to the evolution of galaxies?
How can we form a SMBH in a very short time?
Do we have dark matter in all galaxies?
