Part I. Narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxies (NLS1) are a subtype of active galactic nuclei (AGNs) that have less massive black holes (BH) and high accretion rates. Thus, NLS1 are suggested to be in an early stage of AGN and BH evolution. Investigation of NLS1 can help us to reveal the formation of AGNs and understand their evolution. A high bar frequency is found in NLS1 that is higher than that of broad-line Seyfert 1 galaxies, indicating bars could play an important role in the early stage of AGNs. To further study possible influence of bars in NLS1, I analysis barred and unbarred NLS1 by comparing their AGN power, including luminosity, Eddington ratios and emission line strength. My results suggest that barred and unbarred NLS1 have similar distributions of luminosity, Eddington ratios, line strength, and black hole masses. Furthermore, I also find that no correlation exists between bar strength and AGN power. The results suggest that the bars might have no strong influence in the early stage of AGNs. Part II.
