"The cometary outburst activity from ground-based and space telescopes"
時間/地點: 2021-06-18 14:00 [Zoom]
摘要:
The outburst of comet brightness is a spectacular and well-known appearance of the physical activity of these relatively small cosmic bodies. The outbursts of brightness are observed for periodic comets, as well as for some dynamically new comets. Sudden and short-lived outbursts were observed frequently during spacecraft Rosetta’s two-year mission at comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko, whereas the most known comet representing such kind of activity from ground-based telescopes is the comet 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann 1. There are a number of hypotheses put forward so far in scientific literature, many of them are trying to establish the ultimate cause of the phenomenon. My presentation from the ground-based observations, will focus on the results of investigations of visual light curves, brightness outburst activity and morphological evolution of some comets. From the Rosetta mission, the statistical analysis of the outbursts on comet 67P/C-G will be discussed and summarized.
