"A Saturn's Tale"
時間/地點: 2017-02-17 14:00 [S4-1013]
摘要:
A min-reminiscence of the speaker about the roots of some of his research works beginning with his graduate study at Pittsburgh and then San Diego. He will describe how the search for the origin of the Saturnian rings (still unsolved) could have strong impacts on the developments of plasma physics and planetary science. By way of doing so, some key features of the Saturnian ring system and its interaction with Saturn's ionosphere will be highlighted. It is hoped that the Proximal observations in the Grand Finale phase of the Cassini mission will provide definite answers to a number of major questions raised since 65 years ago.
