摘要:
Recent observations of molecular clouds reveal a complex structure, with gas and dust often arranged in filamentary rather than in spherical geometries. The association of cores and young protostars with the filaments suggests a direct link with the process of star formation, including the formation of massive stars. Once formed, massive stars ionizing the gas around them to create HII regions. Among the variety of morphologies observed in HII regions, the formation and evolution of Bipolar HII regions remain to be fully understood. Using Spitzer GLIMPSE survey, and the Herschel Hi-GAL survey, we have identified 16 candidate bipolar HII regions in a zone of the Galactic plane between ±60° in longitude and ±1° in latitude. Based on results from Herschel Space Observatory, in this talk, I will discuss the formation and evolution of Bipolar HII regions, and their impact on the star formation process of the parent filamentary cloud.
